28 July 2023 – 21:00 / Cevio
A true ace, considered by many to be one of the best and most innovative guitarists blues around. Opening classic blues with a modern twist.
Last night in Cevio, Friday, July 28, 2023 with Flo Bauer & Circle of Mud and Matt Schofield. Young singer-songwriter, Flo Bauer is one of the representatives of modern, innovative and accessible Blues tinged with numerous influences, taking care to preserve the soul and intensity of this music. He is known in Switzerland thanks to his recent collaboration with a big name in the Blues: Philipp Fankhauser. At Vallemaggia Magic Blues comes with the French band Circle of Mud who belong to the new generation of the Blues and bring the essence of this musical style into the light of the 21st century. Inspired by the great blues masters, they draw an attractive arc between the origins of this music and modern sounds and arrangements.
For several years the Magic Blues has had its eye on Matt Schofield, class of 1977, considered by many to be one of the best and most innovative blues guitarists around. Many trade magazines consider him the best guitarist England has provided in many decades, listing him among the ten best ever, along with such legends as Eric Clapton and Peter Green! After more than 30 years of performing and a 20-year solo career, Schofield's impact as one of the most influential and distinctive guitarists of his generation is unquestionable! He refers to his music as "Matt Schofield music," a melting pot in which Blues, Rock, Jazz, Funk and even cultured music merge. He has shared the stage with, among others, Robben Ford (from whom Schofield's sound is inspired) and Buddy Guy. This is confirmed by the numerous industry and critical awards and accolades he has received: three-time "British Blues Guitarist of the Year," "British Blues Album of the Year," and the first guitarist inducted into the "British Blues Awards Hall of Fame." Schofield is set to enchant the Magic Valley with his music in one of the "top" concerts of this edition. The pandemic has fortunately only delayed his performance, scheduled as early as 2020. Save the date for this great musician.

Cevio welcomes a true standout! One of the best and most innovative blues guitarists around
For several years the Magic Blues had been keeping an eye on Matt Schofield, born in 1977, considered by many to be one of the best and most innovative blues guitarists around. He is considered by many to be one of the best and most innovative Blues guitarists around. Many specialist magazines consider him to be the best guitarist England has provided in many decades, placing him in the top ten of all time alongside legends such as Eric Clapton and Peter Green! A native of Manchester, Schofield began playing guitar at the age of 12. Fascinated by B.B. King, Albert Collins and Stevie Ray Vaughan he turned his attention to the Blues. At 18, he moved to London, working as a sideman for many artists. This allowed him to broaden his musical horizons, but it was not until 2002 that he began to think about playing his music, which he himself describes as miles away from rigid formulas, with his own band. Quite simply, it is 'Matt Schofield music', a melting pot in which Blues, Rock, Jazz, Funk and even cultured music merge. He has shared the stage with, among others, Robben Ford (from whom Schofield's sound is inspired) and Buddy Guy, and after almost fifteen years with seven solid albums behind him and three British Awards in a row between 2010 and 2012, he is ready to enchant the Magic Valley with his music in one of this year's 'top' concerts. The pandemic has fortunately only delayed his performance, which was originally scheduled as early as 2020. Save the date for this great musician.

One of the most interesting representatives of modern Blues!
Alsatian Flo Bauer is one of the most interesting representatives of modern Blues in our latitudes. After several years of concerts and an album, the young and excellent guitarist continues to play on stages all over Europe. He delivers a Blues that draws on numerous influences, whilst carefully preserving its soul and intensity. Flo Bauer is particularly well known in Switzerland thanks to his collaboration with Blues great Philipp Fankhauser, who regularly invites him on stage, such as in 2018 at the Montreux Jazz Festival and at the opening of Eric Clapton's concert last October. In parallel, he performs with his new band "Circle of Mud", made up of very talented musicians. He plays rootsy, modern blues-rock that is appreciated by fans and laymen alike. This is the strength of the project: offering music that is accessible and deep at the same time. Circle of Mud belong to the new generation of the Blues and bring the essence of this style into the light of the 21st century. Inspired by the great masters of the Blues, they draw an arc between the origins of this music and modern sounds and arrangements. The art lies in maintaining respect for the great masters while developing an attractive originality. The contribution of producer David Husser is also important. This is how Circle of Mud's debut album was born, released in October 2021 on the important Dixiefrog label, which boasts prominent artists such as Popa Chubby and Neal Black among its ranks.
