Bat Battiston & The Cannonballs special guest Marcel “Jimi” Aeby

CH

Born in 1963, Bat Battiston is a guitarist, singer and harmonica player, but above all, an authentic bluesman. Robert Johnson, Elmore James and John Lee Hooker inspire him in his acoustic performances. When he picks up the electric guitar, however, it is the three kings of the blues - Freddie, B.B. and Albert King - who shape his artistic vision, leading him to form several bands over the years. From the 'Kids' of the early 1990s to the 'Flagstones' and the 'Blues Fellas.' A pivotal moment in his musical journey was his trips to the heart of Mississippi, where he met one of his greatest inspirations, R.L. Burnside. He does not remember every concert, but over the years, he has performed on countless stages, from venues in Switzerland and northern Italy to renowned blues festivals (including the Charleston Blues Festival in the United States). In 2010, he met bassist Federico Albertoni, resulting in an intense artistic collaboration. On the Magic Blues stage, Bat will be joined by Albertoni and all the musicians of his band ‘Freddie & the Cannonballs.' The band, winners of the Swiss Blues Challenge 2021, has been nominated twice at the Swiss Blues Awards and reached the semifinals at  the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Making the event even more special will be the participation of guitarist and vocalist Marcel “Jimi” Aeby (More Experience), who will help transform this evening into what some have already called a “Ticino Blues Summit”.
